CHRISTMAS ~ A TIME OF TRANSFORMATION...

....Well, for these bits it is!
It's not THAT long 'til Christmas, right?
I made a few different decorations a few years ago,
that needed a bit of a revamp.
 ANGEL:
Originally:
I pulled everything off around the image and started again,
using a dark red paper with stars applied with texture paste then
a bit of glitter added whilst it was wet:
Some Dusty Attic chippy, & Lindy's gold mist...
You can see the glitter on the star above.
The deer comes from Mary B:
AFTER:

The next thing I tackled was a heavy metal plaque.
It started like this:
It actually pulled apart really easily. It sits outside near
our backdoor, so I guess it's a bit weathered!
The only thing I kept was the little 'wish' frame from up top.
I used it on my last project - not this one!
Stripped:
Next it got coated in white gesso, then gold paint.
I made a 'wreath' by tearing 2 strips of calico, & plaiting them with
some Christmas trim I had:
Just felt like trying something different! It worked well. I simply
tied a knot to start it then a piece of ribbon to finish it - just like you
do with your hair!!
Heat embossed a greeting on my doily. Also on the wooden stars.
The ribbon ends were scrunched with water, then left to dry:
The star in the middle of the 'wreath'.
My whole plaque:
Lastly, I 'switched up' my 'Jesus is the Reason for the Season'
canvas. Well, it's printed on the back of a pizza box.
But 'canvas' is close enough;) This is a more subtle change.
Before:
I left the tree & presents. I just didn't like the bauble banner on top
& I ALWAYS hated the bird! Also removed the tree's pot.
Can you see how I added the 'wish' frame with the presents?
And a MUCH nicer dove!!!
Also added some more definition to the 'Jesus' banner:
Fussy cut the 'joy' out. Added some bling
& lots of stars!!
I was really pleased that I decided to play around with these.
Feel much happier. Waste not, want not & all that. BUT they look fresher.
Win-win!!
Here's some before/after collages:

Hope this gives you some ideas & inspiration

Just popping in to say hi....

.... & to share a couple more LO's that you guys haven't seen.
I've been scrapping away quietly in the bg here...... enjoying using up bits & bobs.
OLD OLD paper.....Kaisercraft plastic bag. The last of it. Makes me sad:(
This is one I did whilst away with my scrappy GFs:
I loved 'matching' up my pp's BEFORE I went on camp.
Made it way easy to scrap! Loved doing teensy tiny but lots of layers.
And frames! I find them hard to use, so I was pleased to use this one!
Isn't he a sweety boy? He loves swinging. Like most kids!
Last closie. I think they're Kaisercraft word stickers, too. That's my Mum, or
Grand Nan, as they call her, in the bg there:) We're lucky to have these swings
literally 5 mins walk up from our house!
I'm also enjoying my 'new' stuff when I get my Kitaholic Kit each month.
This seems a good balance for me! And stops me buying much stuff in between.
Mostly. [sometimes I slip!!!]
This LO was done yesterday. I've been trying to scrap all my older photos
before I start scrapping the HUGE lot I just printed off. So, even though
the 3 photos below aren't from the same time...I'm challenging myself to
still do multi photo pages using a variety of snaps!
And purple!
No-one said kits always came with EXACTLY what you like. That's part of the
fun I reckon!
ADORE those words that I've used in the title below:
The 'love is gold' was in the kit. How PERFECT for that photo
of Riley dressed up for the NZ Union World Cup win?!!!
And the little stickers - like 'for the record', above.... !!!
Below I did a 'line' of embellies to break that quite strong
B & W pp..... a Funky Flair in there, too [not in the kit!]
And last one of this lovely, LOVELY Great Grand Boy:
I don't know WHERE the time is flying to...but it's
away from me, for certain!
Hope you're still finding some scrappy time in
all the busy-ness that is the end of the year
Blessings ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Lizzy's December Daily Kit & an Ollie page:

Hullo folks! I'm up over at the LET'S DECEMBER DAILY BLOG
with my 'kit' organisation.
I use the term 'kit' VERY loosely.
Pop on over if you're into DD's:)
Just for interest's sake...can you guess which journal
that I went with?
I picked all of them up from the Op Shop for a couple of
dollars each...

I've been busy creating. Mostly 'happy mail'.
Some LOs too.
Here's one of them, featuring
my gorgeous 2nd Grand Boy Ollie:
Used a mix of pp's up, with this sort of  'banner'. Funky flair alongside
a very old one from goodness knows where!
And I SEWED, Lynette Jacobs. Well, my sorta sewing!
And I managed to use that little 'vintage' style playing card
amongst my pp layers, above.
Below, I've used my LITTLE MOMENTS iPhone app
to 'edit' my photo before I printed it.
I've embarked on a project to scrap a photo for each of my 3
grand boys for each month since they've been born.
So, I've had to sort out which photos I liked best.
Some I've got done, but there are a few gaps.
I think it will make quite nice albums for them...
Thanks for taking the time to check this one out.
Have you noticed I haven't been in any challenges for a whiles?
I'm quite enjoying the break, to be honest:)
Take care now - hope you're getting yourselves
all sorted for Christmas, which is NOT
far away!!
Cheers ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥
